NAMI of Omaha Donates Dozens of Mental Health Books for Psychiatric Patients

The National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI, namiomaha.org) Omaha dropped off dozens of mental health texts and information to Nebraska Medicine for patients in the Adult Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) unit. Board members Linda Jensen and Tracy Daley presented the mental health literature to three members of the Nebraska Medicine’s PES unit. The PES staff had created a wish list of titles for their patients and NAMI generously delivered. NAMI wants to remind peers and family support members suffering with mental health challenges that they are not alone and that recovery is possible. Something as simple as a book can provide great comfort in crisis.

NAMI Omaha, a local affiliate of NAMI, is comprised of more than 75 members and is dedicated to breaking down stigma and improving services for those affected by mental illness. They provide education, support, and advocacy to consumers, family members, friends, and professionals in Cass, Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy, and Washington counties in Nebraska. NAMI Omaha’s Board of Directors meet on the 4th Wednesday of every month to discuss the growth of NAMI Omaha. For more information about NAMI Omaha, visit namiomaha.org.
