Wayne Stuberg, Ph.D., associate director of the Munroe-Meyer Institute and director of MMI’s University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), has been elected chairman of the Nebraska State Board of Health.  Dr. Stuberg, who has been on the Board of Health since 2010, begins his one-year term on January 1.

As chairman of the Board of Health, Dr. Stuberg will serve as an advisor to the chief medical officer of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The board oversees the regulation and licensure of health professionals throughout the state of Nebraska and advises HHS on public health issues.

A physical therapist, Dr. Stuberg has been with MMI since 1984.  He earned his undergraduate, master’s and doctorate degrees from UNMC. He is board certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, a past president of the Nebraska Physical Therapy Association and past chair of the Board of Physical Therapy for the Department of Health and Human Services’ Division of Licensure and Credentialing.

Dr. Stuberg has served as a consultant for the state of Nebraska on the Governor’s Early Childhood Interagency Coordinating Council and also as a member of the Department of Education’s Special Education Advisory Council.
