The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Nonprofit Management Institute (business.unl.edu), housed in Nebraska’s College of Business Center for Executive and Professional Development, is eager to introduce a new slate of virtual courses for nonprofit professionals during the fall of 2026. These courses were designed by and for nonprofit professionals to support a growing need for fi nancial education in Nebraska and beyond.
“Participants from across the country have appreciated the convenience of virtual sessions, as well as the opportunity to engage with facilitators and classmates during the interactive half-day sessions,” stated Executive Director Dr. Amber Messersmith. “Nonprofit professionals dedicate their time and energy to fulfilling their organizations’ missions and investing in continuing education only strengthens those contributions.”
Courses are delivered via Zoom, allowing participants to join from anywhere. Students who complete the prerequisite course and any three, two-day courses will receive a certificate in Nonprofit Financial Management.
Viridiana Almanza, Director of Programming at the Latino Center of the Midlands earned her certificate in Nonprofit Financial Management during the Spring of 2026. “The more we understand our budgets and finances, the better positioned we are to make decisions that are sustainable, responsible and ultimately more impactful for the communities we serve. It wasn’t just a series of classes—it felt like a progression that deepened my understanding over time and connected theory to real-world application.”
