Southside Redevelopment Center Rebrands, Renames Itself “Canopy South”

In order to better reflect the energy and diversity of the South Omaha area they serve, Southside Redevelopment Center recently renamed itself “Canopy South (canopysouth.org),” completing their rebranding into a more vibrant-looking organization.

“We wanted to our brand to be more inviting and representative of our role in neighborhood transformation,” Executive Director César García said. “A canopy serves as the connection for a greater network, which we aim to achieve by partnering with the community and other organizations doing incredible work in the area.”

Canopy South remains committed to its original mission to generate holistic community revitalization in South Omaha. This includes working alongside current residents, community leaders, and partners to build the neighborhood’s future, while simultaneously maintaining Canopy South’s status as a welcoming, inclusive gateway for new residents. Canopy South believes that their new branding better represents its mission to maintain South Omaha as a diverse, thriving community full of choice and equitable opportunity for residents of every generation and culture. Canopy South transforms neighborhoods in South Omaha by bringing high-quality mixed-income housing, an effective cradle-to-career education pipeline, and a robust network of facilities, programs, and services that promote healthy lifestyles and build local wealth.
