Sloan Medical, a leader in disposable personal protective equipment or PPE, announces that its Sta-Dri® line has been successfully tested on a stringent viral penetration test method. The Sloan Medical products tested passed the ASTM F1671 Viral Penetration Test which was performed to evaluate the barrier performance of protective materials which are intended to protect against bloodborne pathogen hazards. No viral penetration was detected in any of the samples tested, resulting in additional safety for healthcare professionals using Sloan Medical’s impervious products.

Healthcare workers are in daily contact with patients’ body fluids and blood capable of transmitting disease. During exposure to fluids, viral penetration may occur through imperfections or manufacturing defects in product material. That did not happen in any of the 40 Sta-Dri® samples tested, upholding Sloan’s reputation for keeping healthcare workers’ complete safety and satisfaction in mind. The ASTM F1671 test method represents an additional step Sloan Medical is taking to ensure the quality and of its products beyond required standards.
