RDG Planning & Design’s Project, Menno Haven Awarded IWBI Certification

RDG Planning & Design (rdgusa.com), one of the nation’s leading creative firms based in Omaha, announced that one of their projects, the Menno Haven Rehabilitation Center, has been officially WELL Certified to the Gold level by The International WELL Building Institute (IWBI). Menno Haven is the first skilled nursing project worldwide to receive this certification.

The WELL Building Standard is a performance-based system combining best practices in design and construction with evidence-based scientific research including measuring, certifying, and monitoring features of the building that impact human health and wellbeing. It took seven years of rigorous research and development working with leading physicians, scientists, and industry professionals for this standard to become established.

RDG Partner Jay Weingarten, AIA, WELL AP, discusses the importance of implementing WELL Building Standards with their projects: “A focus on promoting optimum health in the projects we design, in our office practices, and in our individual lifestyles is central to RDG’s culture. It has been exciting to bring our passion and the depth of research behind the WELL Building Standard to life within a skilled nursing environment to serve Menno Haven’s mission of nurturing the human spirit. We can all benefit from a commitment to our own health and the health of our communities similar to that which Menno Haven is demonstrating here.”

Menno Haven is a nonprofit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) provider with over 50 years of care and service.
