Forever Friends Pet Cemetery will host the 2nd Annual National Pet Memorial Day Observance on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. The community event is called Pawprints on the Lawn and includes remarks by an officiant, special readings and ceremonies, and the ability for families to grieve with others experiencing the loss of their pets. Open to the public, Pawprints on the Lawn welcomes both people and their pets. The special observance is offered in partnership with The House Kat Pet Services.

“The bonds between pets and their humans are very real. Bringing people together for National Pet Memorial Day allows them to honor the memory of pets who have been much-loved members of their families,” said Brian Kruse, executive director at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Cemetery and Mausoleum. Forever Friends is the area’s only pet cemetery.”

Participants in the 2025 event appreciated the opportunity to remember and grieve the pets that had passed away.

“Some attend following a recent loss of a beloved pet, while others come to remember a very special pet from long ago and express their feelings,” said Kat Frizzell, owner of The House Kat Pet Services.

Forever Friends Pet Cemetery is located within the grounds of Forest Lawn (forestlawnomaha.com). It was established nearly five years ago as a final resting place for pets of all kinds – dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, birds, reptiles and other animals.
