Paul Serrato Releases New Album, “Urban Fingerprints”

In his latest CD “Urban Fingerprints”, pianist and composer Paul Serrato (www.CDBaby.com) teams up with bassist Hilliard Greene to present a program with the vibes of an intimate club performance. The duo works it out with original jazz compositions in a Latin vein, as well as two lyrical classics by Billy Strayhorn arranged by Serrato.

Serrato’s own diverse “Urban Fingerprints” style derives from influences as varied as his early classical training to classic jazz influences from Art Tatum, Eddie Palmieri, Tom Jobim, Horace Silver and others, synthesizing a lifetime of musical impressions absorbed over time. The outcome is a musical balance of gusto, elegance and pleasure.

For the two sessions required to record the music, Paul journeyed to New York City from Omaha, NE, where he recently relocated, to team up with Hilliard Greene, a longtime musical confrére. The live mixes were recorded at the Broome Street Studio, a neighborhood that, Serrato says, instills a charged energy that can’t help releasing creative juices.

“Urban Fingerprints” is Serrato’s 10th album on his Graffiti Productions label. It and his previous CDs are available at www.CDBaby.com.
