The Omaha Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Coalition, located at 3605 Q Street, hosted a ribbon cutting with the Greater Omaha Chamber on August 6th to celebrate 10 years of service to the poor along with the launch of their annual volunteer recruitment campaign for 2016.

The Omaha EITC Coalition administers the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistant (VITA) program which serves low to middle income people in the Omaha metro area. In the last 10 years they have prepared over 40,000 tax returns and logged as many volunteer hours to return to the community a value of service of $92,656,579 – representing fees saved, refunds generated, volunteer time donations, and other services rendered through the program. As a volunteer-driven organization, the Coalition trains and certifies individuals as tax preparers or site navigators (intake specialists) to serve over 6,000 people during tax season.

“It is a great honor to serve in a mission-oriented, volunteer-driven organization that brings real change to people’s lives,” said Ed Leahy, the program director.

The Omaha EITC Coalition is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. For more information, please call (402) 250-9781, email Ed Leahy at edl@fhasinc.org, or visit www.omahaeitc.org.
