First Interstate Bank (firstinterstatebank.com) was awarded the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence for Philanthropy.

At First Interstate, giving back isn’t a line item — it’s woven into how business is done. Through an innovative corporate philanthropy program, First Interstate donates a portion of Company profits, matches employees’ personal financial contributions and donates $10 for every hour team members volunteer at qualifying organizations. The Believe in Local grant campaign awards $1 million annually to 40 nonprofits across the 10-state footprint, and the yearly Volunteer Day mobilizes the entire bank for a single day of service.

Throughout 2025 in the Omaha metro, employees led 15 Volunteer Day projects serving 13 nonprofits, delivered more than 150 hours of fi nancial literacy programming and gifted 14 local teachers $500 each through the Pay It Forward initiative to support classroom needs. From weekly financial education classes at MICAH House in Council Bluffs to funding musical instruments for Carter Lake Elementary, First Interstate shows up for the communities that count on them.

First Interstate was named a recipient of the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce’s 2026 Business Excellence Award in Philanthropy. The Philanthropy category recognizes organizations,
small and large, whose philosophy of giving back makes a significant impact on the Omaha metropolitan community’s health and well-being — honoring those who go above and beyond to foster a spirit of generosity and support.

“This recognition reflects the heart of who we are at First Interstate,” said Tim Legband, First Interstate’s Nebraska State President. “We believe a community bank has a responsibility to invest in the places it calls home — not just financially, but through the time, energy, and expertise of our people.”
