Nikki Scott MS-CCC, SLP, CRCC’s in house AAC Specialist, recently directed the launching of the CRCC Therapy Center’s Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) Evaluation Clinic.  She receives support for evaluation and training from Courtney Farmer, MS-CCC, SLP. Both therapists specialize in pediatrics and have worked with a variety of communication technologies, including Dynavox and TalktoMe Technologies.

The ACC Clinic, housed within the CRCC Therapy Center, provides comprehensive AAC evaluations with customized plans for evaluation and training to suit the family’s preferences. CRCC therapists will work with the family to determine the best route to obtaining a communication system or to determine which AAC strategies (e.g., pictures, switches, devices) work best for the child in all environments.  Depending on the findings of the evaluation, they can recommend a device immediately if appropriate, arrange a device loan to test options or work on skill development via speech therapy to work toward the appropriate communication device or strategies.

CRCC therapists also provide caregiver training, make  recommendations for skill development at home and provide fun activities that can be done at home to assist with achieving the child’s speech and language goals.

The clinic serves families both within and outside of the Omaha area and we accept the majority of major insurances, including Medicaid and have self-pay options. Please contact Rachel at (402) 895-4000 or rhalonen@crccomaha.org with questions or to schedule an evaluation. To learn more about CRCC Therapy Center please visit crcctherapy.org.
