Cox Funds Innovation Lab for Council Bluffs Boys & Girls Club

Cox Communications (www.coxblue.com) along with The James M. Cox Foundation and Mayor Matt Walsh have announced the opening of a Cox Innovation Lab at the Council Bluffs Boys & Girls Club. Valued at more than $35,000, the Innovation Lab includes laptops, projectors and screens, furniture, and software for gaming and coding. Through the suite of programs, kids can learn the basics of business software and online safety as well as advanced hardware and networking skills.

Since 2003, Cox has contributed more than $20 million in cash and in-kind support to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. In the greater Omaha metro area, Cox has provided innovation labs to several clubs, offered continuing support to the organization and members through board engagement and broad employee volunteerism, and has served for the past two years as presenting sponsor for the Youth of the Year event.

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands (BGCM) is the largest youth service agency in the Omaha metro area. With eight Club locations in north and south Omaha, BGCM fulfills its mission in helping over 8,000 kids “to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, healthy and caring members of society.”
