Celebrating Mother’s Day in Omaha, NE – 2019
It’s that time of year to start thinking about how we want to celebrate the moms in our lives this Mother’s Day—Sunday, May 12. There are many ways to show our appreciation and love for our mothers, but quality time is always best. Make sure you are accompanying flowers, chocolates, and/or jewelry with a little one-on-one time with Mom, whether that be a phone conversation or taking her to dinner. If you’re having a hard time thinking of some special ways to make your mom feel like the queen she is this Mother’s Day, here is some advice from local business owners and representatives in Omaha.
“Every woman deserves to be pampered every now and then, and moms especially!” exclaimed Tammy Longacre, a massage therapist at Creative Hair Design. We were very excited to talk to the experts at Creative Hair Design because they are known for being very well trained and knowledgeable about all things beauty, health, and relaxation. “With a hair and nail salon on the first floor and an extensive spa on the second floor, we consider it our privilege to provide quality services to the Omaha community,” Tammy shared. “Whether you visit us for a simple cut and color, or a full day at the spa, you will be treated like a part of our ‘CHD’ family.”
For Mother’s Day, Tammy suggests their massage services. Massage therapy is an investment in your full creative expression, productivity, and sustained good health. Doesn’t that sound like a good gift for Mom? “Therapeutic touch can change your world in many positive ways,” Tammy said. “At Creative Hair Design, we offer a Full Body Massage, which will give the body restoration and relaxation. It begins with a complimentary steam and shower, followed by a 55-minute massage of the head, neck, shoulders, back, and front and back of legs and arms. Our clients also love our Hot Stone Massage, during which the therapist strategically places and massages the body with heated basalt stones, leaving a deep penetrating heat to relax the mind and soul. This 85-minute massage is great for people with arthritis, fibromyalgia, and poor circulation, as well as the regular spa client.”
Being a mom is stressful! For our mom readers out there, don’t forget that it is totally acceptable to get yourself a gift this Mother’s Day. A massage is a perfect way to treat yourself to some well deserved R&R.
In addition to body massages, Creative Hair Design also offers exfoliation treatments. Their Salt Glow treatment will make your mom feel new and refreshed. “The Salt Glow is great for women (and men!) to transform dull, dry skin into skin that’s soft and smooth,” Tammy told us. “It begins with a brisk invigorating dry brushing of the skin followed by a specially formulated exfoliation scrub, concluded with a nice steam and shower that makes our clients feel like new!”
For those soon-to-be and new mothers, Creative Hair Design has therapists who are certified in pregnancy and postpartum massage. “Pregnancy can cause women to experience back pain, joint pain, poor circulation, and headaches,” Tammy informed us. “Pregnancy massages are designed to help with all of these. This 55-minute treatment helps to relieve stress, relax displaced muscles, and help reduce edema. It’s important to note that massage during pregnancy differs from a regular massage. The anatomy of a pregnant woman requires specific positioning during the massage, which is critical to the safety and well-being of both the mother and the baby she is carrying. There are also parts of the body that should not be massaged.”
To work some one-on-one time with Mom into your gift, you may choose to make a spa day of it and get your toes and nails done together! Pedicures are the perfect chance for some uninterrupted time with Mom—sitting side by side in Creative Hair Design’s etched glass private room while enjoying the ultimate relaxation experience. Your feet will enjoy a therapeutic soak followed by an exfoliating treatment to remove any dead, dry skin. After nails and cuticles are groomed, you will experience a de-stressing massage from your knees to your toes. A nourishing mask will follow to soften your skin.
“At Creative Hair Salon, we cater to your special needs and wants,” added Tammy. “If you’re looking to spoil your mom this Mother’s Day, I highly recommend selecting one of our spa packages so your mom can enjoy our massage and nail services, along with all the other hair and beauty treatments we offer! Our Premiere Package will treat your mom to a heavenly six-hours filled with an aromatherapy steam and shower, a full body massage, facial, spa lunch, pedicure, manicure, hot paraffin hand or foot treatment, and hairstyle and makeup application. We also offer the Necessary Package, designed for those busy moms who are always on the go. This package is for four hours and includes a facial, spa lunch, pedicure, manicure, and hairstyle and makeup application…covering all the bases with one fabulous swoop!”
Another great Mother’s Day gift is some beautifully-boxed goodies from The Omaha Bakery, especially if your mom is on a health kick! If you’re thinking that last sentence didn’t make sense—Baked goodies? A box-full? Healthy? What?—it’s because you haven’t heard that The Omaha Bakery is now KETO friendly.
“That’s right, The Omaha Bakery is pleased to announce that we are now offering KETO baked goods on a daily basis,” Michelle Kaiser, owner of The Omaha Bakery announced. Don’t worry if you’re used to Chef Kaiser’s World Famous Cinnamon Rolls. Those aren’t going anywhere! Kaiser, who recently dedicated herself to the KETO lifestyle several months ago, wanted to help others in the Omaha area who were practicing a KETO lifestyle but wanted to live normally, too. Everyone wants a sweet from time to time. By providing KETO options, The Omaha Bakery is actually expanding their customer base.
So, what is a KETO diet? You may or may not be familiar with the terms Ketogenic Diet or Ketosis; both are fairly new terms that are gaining in popularity. “It’s hard to pick up a magazine or scroll through Instagram without being inundated with KETO news or recipes,” Michelle noted. “The Ketogenic Diet is a high-fat, moderate protein, low carbohydrate diet. The KETO diet forces the body to burn stored fat for energy compared to a typical standard American diet where you’re burning glucose.”
Chef Kaiser has been practicing this diet for several months and has lost almost 70 lbs since July, is off of medicine, and has a new lease on life! If that sounds like something your mom would want, why not take this Mother’s Day to introduce her to KETO and start by trying some of The Omaha Bakery’s KETO treats. Michelle highlighted their macaroons, fruit pies, and little cakes, which can all be customized and ordered ahead of time so you can pick it up from the bakery before surprising your mom with it.
