Since a young girl, Tina Diaz-Ciechomski has always wanted to own her own business; due to circumstances, she had to give up that dream to raise her two young boys as a single mom. While attending nursing school Tina met her husband who was a carpenter. Tina was so enthralled by the work that he did, she began paying attention to every detail. She knew then that this was her calling. After many years of helping and being a part of his jobs, she decided to go to school to learn about the construction field. Tina took classes at Metro Community College and started working on her construction management degree where she excelled. She remembers a time when a classmate said, “How do you know so much, you’re a woman?” Tina didn’t realize the challenges she would face being a woman construction business owner. However, she chose to tackle the male-dominated industry. Tina feels there is a place for women in
construction and it’s just getting the foot in the door to prove how much of a benefit women can be.

Tina started Future Construction Specialties in June of 2000, with only one employee. Now Tina has thirteen employees including subcontractors.
