Every day in the Heartland, thousands of men, women, and children wake up facing hunger, homelessness, and hardship. At Open Door Mission (OpenDoorMission.org), a hot meal is more than nutrition… it’s an invitation to hope, healing, and a fresh start. Just $21.50 provides 10 meals and critical care for someone experiencing homelessness, helping ensure that no neighbor has to face their struggles alone.

Founded in 1954, Open Door Mission is a Gospel Rescue Mission dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty. On any given day, their campus offers 917 safe shelter beds, serves more than 5,366 nutritious meals, and provides homeless-prevention resources to over 1,270 individuals so they can remain in their own homes. But behind every number is a story, a story of someone who is seen, supported, and deeply cared for.
This holiday season, the need is even greater. Thousands of guests will turn to Open Door
Mission not only for a home-cooked meal, but also for encouragement and compassionate care during an especially difficult time. The Mission expects to serve over 417,223 meals throughout the holiday season, each one prepared with dignity and love.

Inspired by the Biblical call to “invite the poor” to the table, Open Door Mission welcomes each guest as family — offering Christmas hospitality and year-round hope. Mealtime often becomes the first step toward lasting change, opening the door to life-transforming programs, spiritual growth, and restored independence.

With support from generous partners, this vital work continues to flourish. Community members who give truly become part of the life-changing care that is changing lives daily, plate by plate, heart by heart.
