Meet Zachary Zach, the mortgage loan officer / sales manager in Omaha at Lincoln Federal Savings Bank (lincolnfed.com).

Tell us a little about your business. – Lincoln Federal Savings Bank is a depositor-owned, Nebraska bank offering home mortgage lending, equity products, commercial real estate lending and personal and small business banking products. My job is to help people from all walks of life thoroughly understand each step of the home financing process and to increase brand awareness in the Omaha area and beyond.

How did you get started in the business? – I’ve been in banking since 2005, and got my start in mortgage circa 2008. After a few years of servicing subprime loans I made the switch to origination in 2012.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Rules. We must follow them, furthermore, we have to understand them. In this profession there’s always change, which for me, is really exciting, but for referral partners and customers it can be challenging. It’s my job to translate the rules, policies and guidelines into layman’s terms and ensure my network understands them well.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Being tasked with the responsibility of growing brand awareness in Douglas County and beyond for Lincoln Federal Savings Bank, a wellrespected mortgage lender across the state.

Tell us a little about your family. – I have been married to my wife, Nikita for five years, together for 11 years. I have two boys, Royce who is eight months old and Miles who is three years old, and two English Bulldogs, Torq and Tootsie.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – The birth of my first son, Miles. Being a role model for him to look up to and to be able to tell him that his dad helps people every day sets an example that he can carry in his life.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – My favorite thing to do on a day off would be spending time with my boys. Whether that’s building a fort, playing toys, reading a book, going on walks and finding a new park to visit or taking a last minute vacation to somewhere we have never visited before.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I wasn’t named Zachary Zach on purpose.

Who inspires you? – My father has always been one that inspires me the most. The passion, dedication and loyalty he shows not only his family but those that entrust him with their business speaks volumes and continues to drive my work ethic to this day.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Love what you do, and you’ll never work a day in your life.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – As someone who has always had passion for listening and helping, I feel as though a role as a counselor would allow me to be successful.

What is your favorite local Omaha restaurant? – Mahogany Steakhouse.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – Steve Jobs, although he is widely considered a genius, I admire his dedication to his work and ability to think outside the box. A quote he once said, “Your work will fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.”
