Tell us a little about your business.

The Club at Indian Creek is a local venue available to the public for hosting special events such as weddings, reunions, birthday parties, fundraisers, golf banquets and business meetings.  With capacity at 400 guests, we are one of the largest in this area.

How did you get started in the business?

I started at The Club at Indian Creek as a part-time event coordinator in 2011 and worked primarily weekends and evenings overseeing scheduled events. I’d recently re-entered the workforce after staying at home to raise my two children, who are now 17 and 20 years old.  During that time I had volunteered for numerous non-profit organizations including the Stephen Center Guild in Omaha and helped with planning fundraising events.  In 2012 I was promoted to my current full-time position. It’s the perfect fit for me as I have a passion for event planning – I love working with prospective clients to help them choose the perfect venue for their event and then to plan and implement their vision.

Tell us a little about your family.

My daughter, Brooke, is a junior at Northwest Missouri State University and my son, Jason, is a junior at Elkhorn High School.    I grew up in Friend, NE and attended  Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, after which I lived in Omaha; Overland Park, KS; Alpharetta, GA (for approximately 11 years); and Chagrin Falls, OH before returning to Nebraska in 2008 to be closer to family. I am happy to call Nebraska my home again.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?

I enjoy being outside, so when the weather is good I like to go for a walk either in my neighborhood or at Standing Bear or Zorinsky Lake.  In winter I love having a fire going in the fireplace and watching movies at home.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be?

Kind.

What local non-profit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why?

I am passionate about Team in Training for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  My cousin in Kansas City introduced me to the program after my mother died of complications from Multiple Myeloma – a type of blood cancer.  Since then I’ve raised funds for LLS and completed two half-iron triathlons and a full marathon with the support of Team in Training.  Through this organization I’ve made countless friends who share this same passion, I’ve raised thousands of dollars for LLS, and I’ve learned that I can accomplish anything with the support of family and friends!

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read?

I don’t have a favorite book, but my favorite genre is historical fiction.

What is your favorite local restaurant?

I enjoy many area restaurants including Boyd & Charlies BBQ and Bella Vita Ristorante in Elkhorn; Red’s Savoy Pizza, Brix and Kona at Village Point; and Blue Sushi Sake Grill.
