Meet Shannon Schultz, account manager at AOI Corporation.

Tell us a little about your business. – AOI (aoicorp.com) offers solutions for the built environment through our construction, furniture, and pre-manufactured construction groups. Products and services are available individually or combined as part of a holistic approach developed in close collaboration with our clients and their design teams. I work with end users to help overcome obstacles and achieve success through creating appropriate, successful, and cohesive work environments. Whether it be in a healthcare, educational, or office setting, we use a consultative approach to help meet budget, goals, and visual outcomes.

How did you get started in the business? – A fluke, really. I started in more of a retail position in the commercial furniture industry, moving into business-to-business sales shortly after starting.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Navigating motherhood and a career. Finding balance and success in both was a challenge but a great achievement!

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Client satisfaction. It is important to me to be a resource for my clients and potential clients. Someone they can depend on to deliver beyond expectations consistently. Managing all aspects of their project from budget to deadlines to contracts and even color selection!

Tell us a little about your family. – I have been married to my husband for 18 years. We have two high school age kids. Katie is a junior and Gus is a freshman. They keep us very busy with their activities.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I grew up on a dairy farm outside of Omaha in Bennington. I used to help with the cows, walking beans and all things when living on a farm.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – The hard and simple truth is it is not the problem but what you do about it that makes the difference.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Loyal or fair…hard to decide.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? – I’m not big on surprises so I think being able to see into the future would be kind of cool.

Which talent would you most like to have? – I would love to be able to be musically inclined and to speak another language.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – The last book I read was Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. It was a suggestion from a friend in a book club.

What is your favorite movie? – Family Stone.

What is your favorite TV show? – Yellowstone.

What is your favorite local restaurant? – Hiro 88.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – There are so many famous people that I can’t decide! I had a friend from high school pass away suddenly right after I had graduated college, and she had just started a family. I’d love to talk to her again.
