Meet Serena Null, regional sales and operations manager at Anant Operations (anant.life).
Tell us a little about your business. – Anant’s main functions are real estate development, operations management, and construction in the hospitality sector. We have multiple hotel properties that provide services for the corporate daily traveler, companies, organizations, and social groups. The stunning properties we have in Omaha include EVEN Hotel Omaha Downtown – Old Market, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Omaha Downtown – Old Market, Holiday Inn Omaha Downtown – Waterpark, and we recently reopened Aloft Omaha West. Anant also has four properties in Lincoln, one in Crete, and one in McCook, NE. I assist guests with daily travel, group blocks, and event space needs. I can help you with determining details and finding you the right property based on those needs.
How did you get started in the business? – I started at the front desk of a hotel in February 2001. I was in that position for approximately seven months and then moved around in different positions throughout the sales office.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – As most people would probably say, especially those who work in or around the hospitality and tourism industry, Covid was extremely challenging to navigate. We did our best to stay the course while implementing the necessary health and safety measures for the sake of our team and the guests we serve at our properties.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – My biggest achievement as been the growth I have had in the hospitality industry. It has helped me to grow as a person, both professionally and personally.
Tell us a little about your family. – My husband and I have been together for 19 years. We have a wonderful son who is a freshman in high school.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Becoming a mother. My son has taught me so many things.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Spending time with family and friends, either swimming, camping, or having game nights.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I won a karaoke contest when I was 21.
Who inspires you? – My family. They encourage me and push me to a better person than I was yesterday.
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Knowledge is learning something new every day. Wisdom is letting go of something every day.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Kindhearted.
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – I love what I do! If I was in another profession, it would be teaching. I like to educate and help children grow into young adults.
What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – Adopt a Family, Nebraska Humane Society, Open Door Mission, and MICAH House.
