TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is the largest franchised moving company both in the United States and internationally. Currently there are more than 270 national locations and 1,800 trucks operating in the U.S., and the company has performed more than 4.7 million moves in total since its inception in 1985. Ronnie Buggs is the Sales and Marketing Manager for the locally owned and operated TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchises located in Omaha and Lincoln, NE.
Tell us a little about your business. – We are a full service moving company who can pack up your belongings, load and move you into your new home, and finish by unpacking and set up your household the way you want. We also sell boxes and all moving supplies needed to help move you forward. Our specialty is home and business moves.
How did you get started in the business? – I completed my BS degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on Management in 2013. After graduation, I was a Technical Advisor for a software company. Then, I became a Retail Store Manager. I was offered a position as the Sales and Marketing Manager for TMAAT and decided to make the career move.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – The biggest challenge I’ve faced is being the first regional Sales/Marketing Manager for our franchises. I am responsible for two sales departments and coordinating all marketing. The position is very challenging, but I love the feeling of being goal-oriented while staying innovative with new ways to bring revenue to the franchises.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – My most important achievement to date is graduating from UNL’s College of Business Administration. It was not an easy task as I had to stay focused and determined to finish what I started. College has many distractions and I had to mentally prepare myself with a goal to graduate. I ended up graduating in four and a half years.
Tell us a little about your family. – I’m the youngest child in my family. I have one older sister who teaches in Houston. I don’t have any children but I have a loving family who pushes me to be the best version of myself. I am truly blessed.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – When I get some free time, I love to just relax at home and watch sports. I also like to stay active by working out at the gym or playing a pick-up basketball game on the court.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – A wise man once told me that we can overcome all obstacles that are placed in front of us. You just have to keep your head up and stay positive to overcome each negative that life brings on.
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – I see myself being a successful business owner in the future. I’m gaining experience and knowledge at my current position which is preparing me to take on the challenge!
What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – The Holy Bible. It keeps me motivated and helps me be the best person I can be.
What is your favorite TV show? – ESPN’s First Take with Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith. I watch it faithfully.
What is your favorite local restaurant? – I recently fell in love with Plank.
