Meet Nick Jensen, Journeyman at Langer Electric (langerelectricne.com).

Tell us a little about your business. – Langer Electric is a small, family oriented company that provides honest and quality work to all of its customers. We serve the Omaha and surrounding area. Our services include, but are not limited to, repairs, maintenance, estimates, fixture installation, panel updates, boat lift electrical, marine electrical and basement finishing. We strive to have repeated good experiences with our customers. Many trade folks aren’t a treat to work with because they are there for the job and job alone, but here at Langer Electric, we want people to genuinely love the experience they share with us. We try to bring more of a family-feel to the job.

How did you get started in the business? – My father-in-law actually convinced me to become an electrician.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Probably passing my journeyman exam on the first try. I spent a lot of time studying for it, so passing on the first try was a big relief.

Tell us a little about your family. – I am married with three children, two sons that are thirteen and four and a daughter that is five.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – My biggest turning point in life is definitely meeting my wife and her son. It helped me grow up a lot and realize what I’m looking for in life.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – On my days off, I really enjoy playing basketball, golfing or just hanging out with my family.

Who inspires you? – My wife and kids are who inspire me the most. They keep me going on a daily basis and give me a reason to keep pushing, and also my Mom. Seeing the struggles she went through as a single mom makes my appreciation for her grow now that I see what it’s like raising my own family.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – My dad used to always tell me, “If you got a problem, fix it.” That’s kind of stuck with me since I was a kid.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Loyal.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – My dream was always to be an NBA player.

What is your favorite movie? – Step Brothers.

What is your favorite TV show? – Breaking Bad.
