Meet Kevin Malone, a Financial Advisor at Edward Jones (edwardjones.com).

Tell us a little about your business. – I work with individuals and businesses to help them save and invest money as they work towards some of their individual financial goals. We talk openly about objectives, goals and wishes for their future. Through an established process, we build an investment plan that is tailored for just for them.

How did you get started in the business? – I have always found the financial markets and what makes them tic fascinating, and it seemed that I had a natural ability to work with people and relate complex topics into terms that make sense to people at all levels of understanding of a variety of financial matters. Working with people to help them achieve their financial goals resonated with me, and I decided to pursue what I was meant to do.

Tell us a little about your family. – I am married; I have been with my wife for 20 years this January. I have two daughters, Sofia and Mia, as well as a dog named Teddy. I come from a large family. I was raised with eight brothers and sisters (six sisters and two brothers). We grew up here in Omaha, where we all went to Creighton University.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Welcoming my daughters into this world. The days they were born were far and away the most life changing and impactful days of my life. No one can prepare you for how much you will love your children, and my wife Lisa and I absolutely adore our two girls, Sofia and Mia.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – If I am not coaching soccer or basketball for my daughters, you will likely find me spending time with my family. Being intentional about sharing quality time together is very important to us.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – There have been a few occasions when I was recognized as a “hero” for saving someone’s day. I pulled a man out of an icy river. No one knew he was there, and I heard a faint cry for help. He was struggling and had fallen in with all his clothes on. I gathered the help of another bystander, and we called 911 and pulled him to safety.

Who inspires you? – My family inspires me.

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – I have often been recognized for my professional strengths, with recognition for my performance as a sales leader. However, I am most proud of my philanthropic work, both with special needs people as well as with Leukemia Lymphoma Society. My youngest brother was born with Special Needs, and so advocating for people that often cannot advocate for themselves has been an ongoing mission for my family. My parents founded an organization to serve the special needs community, called Angel Works. My sister had Leukemia when she was young and various other forms of Cancer have impacted my family, so the pursuit of finding cures for these diseases has always been near and dear to my heart. In 2019 and 2020, I was a nominee for “Man of the Year” for my support and fundraising efforts for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, and I have been inducted as a member of the “LLS Hall of Fame.”
