Meet Jayda Lyon, Art Director at Strictly Business (strictlybusinessomaha.com).

Tell us a little about your business. – Strictly Business is a business magazine that highlights news, businesses, and the community of Omaha and the surrounding areas.

How did you get started in the business? – I initially started out my career as a graphic design intern for a FinTech. When I graduated school in December 2024 I found Strictly Business and was so excited to elevate my skills in a different industry.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – The biggest challenge I’ve faced professionally would have to be finishing school. As an out of state, double major, transfer student, I faced a lot of adversity in finding my path. Luckily it all led me to a place where I can continue to grow and learn every day.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Holding the position of Art Director is very important to me. I get to create something every day, learn new things, communicate with clients and more. This sense of responsibility and accountability is crucial to my motivation.

Tell us a little about your family. – I have the craziest, most lovable Aussie Blue Heeler, Mylo, and the sweetest, wildest orange cat named Otis.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – The pandemic really changed my life, as well as the lives of so many others. It was a turning point for me because it marked the change from childhood to adulthood. I had to move home during quarantine and after I left for school the next year, I never lived at home again.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I love to take care of house plants, so on my days off I can be found on my front porch repotting and enjoying the company of my pets.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I used to live in Alaska.

Who inspires you? – My mother. She is my hero and the strongest person I know.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Kind.

If you had a theme song, what would it be? – “Mr. Peanut Butter’s House” from BoJack Horseman.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – I get to utilize many talents in my current role; however, I do love to draw and would love to exercise that skill more in my life.

Which talent would you most like to have? – I wish I could sing; I am embarrassingly tone-deaf.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – I love what I do; however, I’d love to be a content creator or YouTuber. I love to record and edit videos, whether it’s a vlog, music video or just sitting down talking.

What is your favorite TV show? – Community.
