Meet Audrey Buhr, VP Business Development at First Direct (firstdirectmarketing.com).

Tell us a little about your business. – First Direct is a marketing systems provider that is on a mission to transform businesses with the right information, insights and solutions to empower today’s business owners’ growth and success. Our approach is different in that we are helping businesses first shore up KEY marketing and systems gaps, the using data to better understanding opportunities and convert those into more revenue!

How did you get started in the business? – I had my own successful business, and my husband and I had the conversation to either expand and franchise out my business or put all our efforts into his already existing and successful business so our focus can be aligned and success could be shared!

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – I am a “Bossy Boots” kind of leader, not a team leader, so my biggest challenge was learning to be a good leader and inspire our team without being a soul crusher!

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – N/A – haven’t reached it yet!

Tell us a little about your family. – My husband and I run First Direct and our son Nathan works for us doing copy. Our daughter Norah is entering middle school this fall. Between our family, volunteer work for our congregation and work we keep very busy!

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Becoming a Mother and figuring out being a full time mom and working to help our family.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – What is a day off? I do love sitting pool side but that is only for eight weeks out of the season so not real sure other than summer weekends.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I like to watch the same movies and listen to the same music over and over again!

Who inspires you? – Martha Stewart – It’s a good thing!

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – You will never regret the things you do – you only regret what you don’t do. Go out there and do it!

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Ineffable.

If you had a theme song, what would it be? – “Confident” – Demi Lovato.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – Excellent cook – by the time all the work is done I don’t get to spend as much time cooking as I would like!

Which talent would you most like to have? – Would love to sing better and perhaps do the flying trapeze.

What is your favorite TV show? – Jeopardy – I have started watching it nightly with my kids and we love it.
