Meet Rich Borgeson, journeyman electrician at Langer Electric.

Tell us a little about your business. – Langer Electric is an electrical company owned by Chris Langer based out of Blair. We do it all when it comes to your electrical needs.

How did you get started in the business? – I got my start in the electrical business eight years ago when a friend got me a job at his company. I worked there for four years before coming to work for Chris.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Deciding to take a job in the field of my degree or starting over in a different field.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Passing my journeyman exam on the first try and becoming an all-around asset to the company.

Tell us a little about your family. – I am married to my beautiful wife Beth of five years. We have a 10-year-old daughter who keeps us busy but we plan for more children.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Taking the relationship with my wife to the next level of marriage really helped me become the man I am today. Another would be coming to work for Chris. I have grown and learned so much, and I owe a lot of that to Chris.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Typically family time or being at the softball fields! We are a big softball family with my daughter and myself both playing multiple times a week.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I bowled a 299 when I was 14 years old.

Who inspires you? – My father. He has shown that just because you aren’t dealt the best hand, you never stop fighting to become the best you that you can be.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – A friend’s grandfather use to always say, “There is no reason to take on a task if you aren’t going to do it right.”

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Dependable.

If you had a theme song, what would it be? – “Crazy Train” by Ozzy Osbourne.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? – Teleportation.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – Being a great father.

Which talent would you most like to have? – Stick to a diet!

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – Play in the MLB.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – Capital Gains by Chip Gaines.

What is your favorite movie? – The Sandlot.

What is your favorite TV show? – MTV’s The Challenge or Law & Order SVU.

What is your favorite local restaurant? – Currently, it’s The Bucksnort in Missouri Valley.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – Ken Griffey Jr, Bo Jackson, or Jackie Robinson.
