Meet Nikki Frenzen, is the COO at Clearwater Counseling.
Tell us a little about your business.
Our business focuses on mental health of children, teens, and adults. We take pride in helping those who are struggling while helping them explore their inner tools they may already have to help them cope. We all work with different populations and enjoy different populations, which is something I love about our team at Clearwater (clearwatercounselingpc.org). It helps us offer a wide variety of services to our community! We have a practice in Omaha and Grand Island. I serve clients out of our Grand Island office and also do virtual counseling through telehealth.
Tell us how you got started in the business.
I was born and raised in central Nebraska in a small rural community. I wanted to bring mental health services to rural communities, so I obtained both my bachelor’s degree in human service counseling and master’s degree in clinical mental health at Wayne State College. I have over nine years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults with behavioral disorders and chronic mental health disorders. I’ve trained in CASI Evaluations, Brainspotting, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I really enjoy helping children find positive coping skills who struggle with anger, aggression, anxiety, or children who struggle to express emotions. I can also help parents find positive techniques to parent angry, anxious, or aggressive children.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?
Setting healthy boundaries with work life and personal life. It can be hard to balance them both at times. It is hard when you take pride in your profession and love what you do!
Tell us a little about your family.
I have the most supportive family. We are a very family oriented, and I love that!
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
I go on walks with my dog and spend the day on the farm. There is truly nothing better.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?
I love to hunt and fish. I belong in the great outdoors! It is a great way to disconnect.
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Learn to let things go. That is always a tough one but so important.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be?
Genuine.
If you could have a super power, what would it be?
I would love to heal people who are struggling or hurting. We know that is always a process or not always possible, but I wish a quick superpower could help heal those who need it.
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be?
I absolutely love kids so I would own a daycare. I would also enjoy working as a realtor or a professional interior decorator/designer.
What is your favorite movie?
There are too many! I do enjoy throwing it back to some Disney movies from my childhood days. I also like seeing the new Disney movies they come out with. Working with kids helps keep me up to date with all of these new movies.
What is your favorite local restaurant?
Two of my favorites are Summer Kitchen and Jimi D!
