Meet Mykiah Septmatthews, lead infant room teacher at B & K’s ExSeptional Ones Academy.
Tell us a little about your business. – As a teaching academy, we are the foundation of learning. We have the privilege to teach kids from 6 weeks to 13 years old. This job is not just about watching kids all day, we are teaching a dual curriculum. We follow Montessori practical application and traditional early childhood learning through play. B & K’s ExSeptional Ones was built on the desire to make a difference in the lives of children in lower social economic statuses and make long-term impact in the lives of children.
How did you get started in the business? – My mother Keana Septmatthews, the founder and CEO, has been in the business for as long as I can remember. I always loved going to work with her.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Hanging out with my family and watching movies.
Who inspires you? – Almost everyone I have in my life which isn’t many people, but mainly my parents and my daughter. It’s about quality over quantity when it comes to role models and a good support system.
