Tell us a little about your business. – Cornhusker Bank (cornhusker.bank) has been a locally owned and operated community bank dedicated to serving our customers since 1903. We have partnered with individuals and businesses by providing personalized financial products and solutions designed to help them reach their goals.

How did you get started in the business? – I began my banking career as a Bank Teller during college. Looking to expand my knowledge and advance professionally, I accepted a role preparing commercial loan documentation; I developed an appreciation for the diverse industries, businesses and projects. Nearly 15 years ago, I joined Cornhusker Bank with the goal of becoming a commercial lender. I achieved that goal and spent the past 13+ years helping clients achieve long-term success.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – During the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, many businesses faced uncertainty as they kept doors open and employees on the payroll. The federal government’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) was created to provide financial relief, with banks as the primary channel for originating and administering these loans. The first few weeks were intense, requiring long hours, evolving guidance and ongoing communication to reassure customers. Despite the challenges, it was rewarding to be part of it. Cornhusker Bank helped deliver more than $75 million in PPP funding to Nebraska businesses, providing needed support.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Building lasting relationships with customers and helping them achieve goals. It is a privilege to be part of their journey, whether thats financing their first investment property, supporting the growth of their business or helping them successfully transition through the sale of a company they built.

Tell us a little about your family. – My wife, Olivia, and I have been married for nearly 20 years and are proud parents to three daughters: Caitlynn (16), Leighton (16) and Kamryn (10).

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Moving to Cornhusker Bank nearly 15 years ago. My goal was to become a commercial lender, and the bank provided a clear path, valuable mentorship and the support needed.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Golf or spend time with family/friends.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – “Be a friend, tell a friend something nice. It might change their life!”

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – I have artistic talent!

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – If I had pursued a career outside of banking, I would have enjoyed becoming an accountant. I have always enjoyed working with numbers, analyzing financial information and solving problems.
