Uncorked is a local paint and sip art studio owned by two sisters-in-law who were both born and raised in Omaha. At Uncorked Paint & Sip Art Studio, a local artist will guide you through a step-by-step painting class that lasts approximately two hours while you listen to upbeat music and enjoy a glass of wine or beverage of choice. In addition to their regularly scheduled classes, Uncorked also offers private parties and kids’ parties—no experience needed! Marleen White is the co-owner of Uncorked Paint & Sip Art Studio.
How did you get started in the business? – After the opportunity fell in our lap, my sister-in-law Michelle and I decided to start this new adventure.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – So far our biggest challenge is just getting the word out to the public about our business.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Starting this business, as Michelle and I both have raised our families and are beginning this new adventure together.
Tell me a little about your family. – My husband and I, along with our son, live in the Millard area. After being a stay at home mom for 17 years, they are both incredibly supportive of me as I set out to start my own business.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – First, getting married and having my son and second, starting Uncorked. As my son was nearing graduation from high school, I came to the realization that he was growing up and about to be going to college. I definitely thought “What am I going to do now?” Fortunately, Michelle and I started Uncorked shortly afterwards so I didn’t have too much time to worry about that!
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Painting, which is why our business is the perfect fit for me!
What is the most interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – My artistic ability.
What are you the most proud of? – My family.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – This too shall pass.
If you could choose only one word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Passionate
