Tell us a little about your business.

Pheasant Bar & Grill is a great dive bar with karaoke, pool tables, and Keno! We offer affordable prices for our food and drinks and try to create a pleasant and enjoyable environment for our patrons.

How did you get started in the business?

I became a patron for Pheasant Bar & Grill 13 years ago when I first moved to the United States. It became a place I could take my family and friends for a good time. When the bar went on sale, I decided to take advantage of that opportunity and pursue it.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?

Going through the process of acquiring a business. Talking to banks, lawyers and other parties involved all while trying to keep up to date with the information given to you can be challenging and mind blowing if it is outside your comfort zone.

What has been your most important achievement professionally?

Venturing into the world of being a business owner and purchasing Pheasant Bar & Grill.

Tell us a little about your family.

I have a wife who works as a registered nurse and two beautiful daughters.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?

Uprooting my family and moving to the United States. Leaving my family and friends was hard, but the move allowed me to provide a better life and opportunity for my family. It also allowed me to go back to school and pursue my education.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?

I enjoy fixing cars and doing yard work.

Who inspires you?

My family is my biggest inspiration. My wife restarted her career, going from being a teacher back in Kenya to becoming a nurse. Both of my daughters have recently graduated from college and are headed to graduate school. Watching them work hard inspires me to keep on going.

If you could have a super power, what would it be?

To have the ability to control time. I would be able to reverse, slow down, or speed up time to my liking.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be?

I would be a mechanic. I have a passion for fixing cars and my education was in the field.
