Meet Lisa Wilsey, owner/founder of Insurance Advisors.

Tell us a little about your business.

I help individuals with Medicare and health/life insurance. I’m an independent agent. My goal is to match my clients with a plan that best fits their needs.

How did you get started in the business?

I worked in insurance my first 15 years out of college. After that, I went into small-business marketing but then sold that company to ultimately return to my real love: insurance.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?

I love being challenged and working through a problem to find a solution. Life gives us challenges every day, both personally and professionally—it’s God’s gift to us so that we don’t get bored!

What has been your most important achievement professionally?

Being self-employed. I love doing business with a handshake and treating my clients like family. I want them to know I’m there for them.

Tell us a little about your family.

My biggest loves are my husband, our two kids and four grandkids, my mom, and my Chihuahua, Faith.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?

Having grandkids and watching our kids become parents. They amaze me every single day.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?

Go on a walk with my dog and spending time with family and friends.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?

I’m shy.

Who inspires you?

So many people. I’ve been truly blessed in my life, and I’m so grateful.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Faith changes everything and kindness matters—pass it on.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be?

Joyful.

If you had a theme song, what would it be?

“Love Will Keep Us Together” by Captain & Tennille. That shows my age!

If you could have a super power, what would it be?

To make people smile and know they are cared about.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life?

I love to cook for people. Feeding people fills my heart with joy.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it?

I’d say a counselor because I want people to be happy and know they are valued.

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why?

Lutheran Family Service of Nebraska. They do amazing work, providing quality human care services that build and strengthen individuals, families, and communities.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read?

Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng.

What is your favorite movie?

Sabrina with Harrison Ford.

What is your favorite TV show?

Yellowstone.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be?

My dad. He is famous in my eyes. He’s been gone for 23 years.
