Tell me a little about your business. – We, at Mid-States PFI, consult with architects, commercial planners, builders and individual homeowners to design, specify, and install Architectural Glass Enhancing Films.  Our innovative films and tints assure varying levels of protection and style by providing: safety & security, sun control, and energy savings. The designer in me really likes the fact that our product can be nearly invisible or be designed to provide creative and unique visual impact for all types of buildings/structures.

How did you get started in the business? – I graduated from UNL with a BS in Interior Design in the 80’s and accepted a position designing and selling residential window treatments with a national firm. As my contacts and clientele grew, I eventually entered the commercial window covering arena.  In the blink of an eye (so it seems), I had devoted more than 25 years of my career to covering windows and had seen plenty of change in the industry.  With a thorough understanding of the market, I saw a shift in style that demanded a sleek, innovative window covering choice for my customers.  In partnership with Walt Grantski of Lifestyle Professional Window Coverings, we launched Mid-States PFI. Today we are thrilled to offer the Vista/Llumar brand of Architectural window film!

Tell me a little about your family. –  I am blessed with a small, close-knit, and very supportive family.  I have two children; my daughter Alissa is 21 and a Nursing Student, and my son, Mikel Christian, is 14 and has recently “officially” become taller than me. They are absolutely my pride and joy, as well as the wind beneath my wings, in life!

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Anything outdoors.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I’m working on my concealed carry permit.

What are you the most proud of? – Finding that fine balance between my professional career and being a Mom.  The balance makes it possible to enjoy being my best at both!

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – I’m grateful that it is difficult for me to choose between these two:  From my Grandmother, Jean C. Mason (who is spryly 96 years old this March!), “Give the world the best you’ve got, and the best will come back to you!” and from my Grandmother, Mildred Warner, “Remember, life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it!”
