Elk Ridge Village Active Retirement Community is located ¾ mile north of 192nd and Dodge Streets. The community includes Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Alzheimer’s/Memory Care. Kristina Krumme is the Director of Marketing for Independent Living at Elk Ridge Village.

Tell me a little about your business. – Our community is designed to provide a beautiful home for residents, while offering the care and services needed to maintain an active and quality lifestyle. The home-like atmosphere at Elk Ridge Village allows residents to enjoy the advantages of community living without compromising their individuality, dignity or privacy.

How did you get started in the business? – I grew up very close to my grandparents so I feel that gave me the original motivation to work with this generation. I worked at a retirement community starting out as a receptionist while going to college. Then it all just came together into the marketing role.  I truly enjoy this generation and appreciate them. I find it very rewarding visiting and learning about their life stories, and I also enjoy getting to know their families too!

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Being part of the opening of a new business; it has been amazing to take part in and witness the growth and development of Elk Ridge Village! It takes tremendous teamwork and dedication as well as marketing and building a solid reputation in the community.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Becoming the Director of Marketing at Elk Ridge Village Independent Living, reaching 100% occupancy for our first phase of Independent Living, and now getting very close to full occupancy with our second phase/new addition of Independent Living!

Tell me a little about your family. – My husband Brad and I recently celebrated our 2 year anniversary; we live in the Millard area and have a sweet little Wheaton/Cocker Spaniel dog Ellie. I have a wonderful mother, Kathy, and two hardworking and humorous brothers, Justin & Delayne; all from the Valparaiso, NE area. My loving father, Dewayne, is no longer with us.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Well I must admit I don’t mind hitting up the malls, TJ Maxx & Marshalls! I really enjoy spending time with friends and family and in the summer, spending time at the pool. Also, my husband and I have discovered the world of DIY days and have completed several projects in our home. He is very crafty and handy–I’m mostly his assistant!

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – I would have to say it’s a combination of a bunch of pieces of advice! It seems like my mom always will tell me things her mother and grandma always told her and she always has the right advice for each different scenario.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Compassionate
