Tell me a little about your business. – Kajoma’s, a “Must SEE” boutique, opened its doors in 2006. Named after my three children, it’s very near and dear to my heart. As a female business owner, it’s important to me to not just sell clothes but to impact women’s lives. Over the past seven years, we’ve worked hard to make a difference. I’m a firm believer in “treat others as you would like to be treated.” We focus on quality customer service in a warm and welcoming environment. Greeting customers, offering assistance and ensuring complete satisfaction are our top priority. If our clients visit our shop, talk about their day and leave with a smile on their face then we’ve done our job! With merchandise scheduled for daily deliveries, there’s a continuous flow of new fashions and accessories which keeps our clients curious and always coming back for more. You just never know what you’ll see at Kajoma’s.
How did you get started in the business? – I always wanted to have my own store. After being a rep for a line of clothing out of California, I kept thinking, “I want to be the one selecting the clothes and helping the customers.” There were no boutiques on the south side of Omaha and I could see the potential and the need in Papillion. After a long drive across Kansas, brainstorming all the way, Kajoma’s was born. I started looking for a building the very next day.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – I have so many ideas floating around in my head. If only I could clone myself or add a few more hours to the day–it’s just hard sometimes to get everything done. I have to force myself to take time off from the business, as it really is essential to avoiding burnout and maintaining a good focus.
Tell me a little about your family. – I live in Papillion with my husband Greg and two of our children; Jordan (22) and Maddie (18). My oldest daughter Kalena (31) lives in Omaha. The newest addition to our family is our Golden Retriever puppy, Lloyd. He makes us laugh.
What are you the most proud of? – I’m very proud of my children. They are all very loving, respectful and possess qualities that you hope your children will acquire. I look forward to seeing them grow up, get married and start their own families.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – You can do whatever you want to do…just try!
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Believer
If you had a theme song, what would it be? – “Happy” by Pharrell Williams
If you could have a super power, what would it be? – Time travel. It would be unbelievable to go back and experience fashion, people and various things of years gone by.
Which talent would you most like to have? – I would love to be able to sing and play the guitar.
What is your favorite movie? – Overboard
