River City Six – Kellie Sillik

Meet Kellie Sillik, administrative coordinator for Bath Fitter in Omaha.

Tell us a little about your business.

Bath Fitter can transform your bathroom with demolition-free remodeling, using our unique tub-over-tub process, and seamless wall system. We manufacture and install all of our own products. In my role, I get to have my hands in all aspects of our business, from setting customers’ initial consultation appointments to placing the order for their materials, all the way through to scheduling the installs in addition to the day to day operations of the office. Our mission is to make people smile every time they see their bathtub, and I am proud to be a part of the team helping our customers to do this every day.

How did you get started in the business?

I spent eight years in the direct-marketing industry. Then, I was lucky enough to be able to spend eight years at home when my kids were young. After returning to direct marketing for a few years, I was ready for a change. I stumbled upon the open position at Bath Fitter and haven’t looked back.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?

I think balancing work and home is a challenge for all working mothers. Sometimes, there doesn’t seem to be enough time in a day for all the things that need to get done. Now that my kids are older, it’s a bit easier and everyone at home helps to pitch in when needed.

What has been your most important achievement professionally?

Earning the respect of my co-workers. I think they see how hard I work, for our customers and in the office every day.

Tell us a little about your family.

I have been married to my husband Ryan for almost 19 years. Our daughter Cori is 17 and our son Jacob is almost 15. We also have a dog named Bo.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?

Losing my dad unexpectedly almost four years ago. It taught me to live life to the fullest and make it memorable.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Weekends are usually centered around food. Between my husband’s bar-b-que, my daughter’s baking, or something I create to tie it all together, no one ever leaves our house hungry!

Who inspires you?

My kids inspire me every day to be the best that I can be. I want to show them that our words and actions make a difference in the world.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

“You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” – A. A. Milne

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be?

Honest.

If you had a theme song, what would it be?

“Jesus, Take The Wheel” by Carrie Underwood.

What is your favorite movie?

It’s a Wonderful Life. It shows us that each of us makes an impact on everyone around us, even if we do not realize how much.

What is your favorite TV show?

Cooking shows or any of the 90 Day Fiancé shows on TLC.
