Tell us a little about your business (rotorooter.com). – We provide services for drain cleaning, plumbing, high pressure jet, excavation and water restoration. We do all of this 365 days a year with no extra charge for holidays or weekends.
How did you get started in the business? – I got started as a hiring manager in Minneapolis 2006 and worked my way up to the GM of the St. Paul branch. From there, I transferred to San Antonio, then to Houston and found my way to Omaha.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – I’ve had many, but the biggest were both in Houston, TX. In 2017, we had to deal with the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. It was tough to see the damage done to people’s homes and irreplaceable personal items. The other in Houston was the Great Texas Freeze. Once again, the damage to so many homes that are just not prepared for weather like that. From Wednesday through the weekend, we had over 3,000 people scheduled for work and limited manpower to tackle it. Most jobs were time consuming due to pipe bursts through the home causing massive water damage.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Working my way up to a GM with no experience in the plumbing field. Winning branch of the month multiple times and earning the respect of everyone at this great company that I work for.
Tell us a little about your family. – I’ve been married to my beautiful wife Diana for going on 24 years. Together, we raised 3 great kids, now adults.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – 100% was meeting my wife. She changed my life; gave me inspiration to be the best man I could be.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Relax with my family and watch my favorite Minnesota sports teams.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – Dancing is not my thing but met my wife salsa dancing. I’m not good, just did what I had to for me to meet her. I also taught myself Spanish.
Who inspires you? – Jesus. Every time I go through tough times, I think about what he went through for us. I’ve faced some very tragic events in my life and my faith has always carried me through.
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Resilient or Faithful.
If you had a theme song, what would it be? – “Fireball”.
If you could have a super power, what would it be? – To be unstoppable.
What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – Discipline with consistency.
Which talent would you most like to have? – Analytical talent.
What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – Suicide prevention – have dealt with it in my life.
