Jerome Hopkins always wondered what it would be like to work in a hotel, so when an opportunity to work in a sales position came up, he applied for it.  He learned a lot about the hospitality business and fell in love with the industry, which lead him to career that has brought him to his current position of Sales Manager at Hampton Inn Omaha-Westroads Mall. The hotel is located right across the street from the Westroads Mall. It has 128 guest rooms and meeting space that can accommodate up to 60 people. Tell us a little about your family.
I am happily married to my best friend Tina. We recently celebrated 17 awesome years together. We have two boys, Jerome and BJ Hopkins, who are both in high school.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?
When I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior at the age of 10.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
My family are avid gamers. We play all kinds of games when time permits. I also enjoy reading a variety of business and leadership books and playing chess.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?
I am a twin and was born in Tokyo, Japan.

What are you the most proud of?
My faith and family. Those two pillars keep me grounded and focused on what really matters in life.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
The past is history. The future is a mystery. The only gift you have is today and that is why it’s called the present. I try to live in the present as much as possible.

What is the one goal you would most like to accomplish?
I would like to become a General Manager of a full service hotel in the next five years.

If you could have a super power, what would it be?
The power to increase my wisdom on any subject in seconds.

What are your plans for retirement?
I see myself traveling more but always working on something productive to society. I also see myself having lots of fun while I am doing it.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life?
I use my greatest talent daily and this translates into helping create memorable experiences for people and generating money.

Which talent would you most like to have?
The greatest talent to me is the talent of generating influence because you can achieve everything else in life with it.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read?
Proverbs is my favorite book. The Book of Proverbs offers timeless lessons about people.

What is your favorite movie?
Flash Gordon from the ‘80s. I like cheesy movies-not sure why?

What is your favorite TV show?
Criminal Minds

What is your favorite local restaurant?
Romeo’s Mexican Food and Pizza

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be?
Sun Tzu – I would pick his brain at dinner all night and try to get some more insight into his book The Art of War.
