After attending medical school at Creighton University School of Medicine and serving as Chief resident in Anesthesiology at Baylor University in Houston, Dr. Jeff Edwards decided to begin practice in Omaha. Medical Pain Relief Clinic is a medical practice dedicated to treating the physical and psychological issues associated with chronic pain. They employ various techniques including: medication management, injections of various types such as steroid, Botox or artificial joint fluid, referral for physical therapy or nerve stimulation, and pain counseling.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – I recently attained the Certified Pain Educator credential which has assisted me in lecturing to physician and allied health professionals nationwide on various Pain Management topics
Tell us a little about your family. – My father is a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner and our practice’s counselor. My mom enjoys horses and leads a horse 4H group. I have two grown daughters. One is a manager at Allianz Life in MN and the other works in an area Infectious Disease medical practice. I also have a grade school daughter and a son who are both black belts in taekwondo.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – I performed both Anesthesia and Pain Management services for many years prior to exclusively focusing on Chronic Pain Management in the last five years.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I enjoy water sports including boating, scuba, water skiing, and swimming. I also enjoy taekwondo!
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I never finished college. I took summer school to complete the admission requirements to medical school in two years, completed my junior year of college and entered medical school
What are you the most proud of? – I wanted to become a physician since preschool. Through the support of family, friends and the grace of God, I get to do what I have always wanted to do, every day!
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Choose the road less traveled, because the masses do not necessarily have the corner on all of the best ideas and a little “out of the box” thinking takes you a long ways!
What is the one goal you would most like to accomplish? – I look forward to my children, and someday grandchildren, being happy, secure and successful in life.
If you could have a super power, what would it be? – I have always loved travel especially by air, but it would be great if I could fly!
What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – I love to travel and actually like planning my own trips and helping others plan theirs.
