Professional Glass Tinting specializes in commercial and residential glass tinting, and has been providing their services in the Omaha and Lincoln area since 1994.  They offer over 180 different films for their customers to choose from, including films designed for heat control, UV protection, glare reduction, safety, security, frosted, decorative, and opaque—from clear to blackout and everything in between.  Jay Heffelfinger is the owner of Professional Glass Tinting.

How did you get started in the business? – I started tinting cars in 1991.  A few years later that led to tinting homes and businesses.  And eventually I became so busy tinting flat glass that I quit doing cars altogether.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? –  Educating the public on all the benefits of window film.  It is always great to hear from customers a few days later, when they tell me “I can’t believe what a difference it makes!”  And that is usually followed by “I just wish I would have had it done sooner”.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Building a business from the ground up, and continuing to grow every year for the last 19 years.

Tell us a little about your family. – I am married to Michelle, my best friend.  We have two boys:  Drew is 13 years old and Alex is 8.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – My senior year in high school I had a bad football injury and that led to me becoming a Christian.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I like to work on projects around the house.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – When I’m the car I’m a really good singer!  Sadly, when I sing outside the car I’m not very good.

What are you the most proud of? – Definitely my two boys.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Nothing is free.  It always costs somebody something.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Dedicated

If you could have a super power, what would it be? – I would really like to stop or slow down time.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – I’m good with teaching kids.

Which talent would you most like to have? – I would like to play guitar.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – Professional sports.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – Control by Glenn Beck—very educational.

What is your favorite movie? – Band of Brothers

What is your favorite TV show? – The Ultimate Fighter

What is your favorite local restaurant? – California Tacos or Stella’s

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – Even though they were not famous, I would choose my Dad and Grandpa.
