Latenser & Johnson, P.C. is a west Omaha law firm.  David Latenser and Dan Johnson are the attorneys in the practice.  The focus of the firm is estate planning, probate, family law, business law and retail/commercial collections.  Donell Johnson is the Business Manager for Latenser & Johnson, P.C.

How did you get started in the business? – You could actually say “I married into it” as I am the business manager for my husband’s law firm.  Their long-time office manager decided to make a career change awhile back.  My degree and experience in business made it easy for me to join the firm as office manager and things have just taken off from there.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – I have experience in running a medical office, but a law office has a very different, unique set of procedures.   I wish I had the formal training of a legal secretary to use alongside my management degree!

Tell me a little about your family. – My husband and I met in December 1999, and were married in June of 2000.  Life has been a crazy ride since then.  Sometimes we just have to hold on tight, but mostly it has been a fun adventure.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Moving to Omaha, getting married and blending our families.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I like to spend time with my Australian Shepherd dog.  We rescued her as a puppy; she is 4 now and the best dog I have ever had.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?  – I have done commercial modeling.

What are you the most proud of? – My biggest accomplishment in life has been to successfully blend our two families.  We all have strong personalities and at one time we had FIVE teenagers in our home. They are all now in college or have graduated college and seem to be on a good path in life.  I am very proud of all of them.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Mom

If you had a theme song, what would it be? – Between Raising Hell & Amazing Grace by Big and Rich

If you could have a super power, what would it be? – The power to be in more than one place at a time.

Which talent would you most like to have? – I have always wanted to play the guitar, but would be happy to be able to play any musical instrument.  My son, Mark, can make music out of any instrument and I really admire his talent.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – I think nursing would be a great profession.  I would like to help people and make a difference in their lives.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – The Hunger Games.  I read this series simultaneously with my daughter, Christine, and enjoyed discussing the plot twists and character development along the way.

What is your favorite movie? – A Walk in the Clouds.

What is your favorite TV show? – Friends or Frazier.  I often laugh out loud at these sitcoms.

What is your favorite local restaurant? – Charleston’s.  The food is always good and I have special memories there.
