River City Six – David Hannam

Meet David Hannam, vice president of Concentric Corporation.

Tell us a little about your business.

Concentric Corporation is a technology consulting and staffing firm that has been in business for over 15 years. We are an Omaha-based, relationship-driven business focusing on connecting the right professionals with the right companies.

How did you get started in the business?

I was working in college admissions recruiting and was approached by a family friend to explore an opportunity in professional technical recruiting. I took the plunge and moved into technical recruiting in 1999 and have been working in this industry now for nearly 20 years. I have been at Concentric Corporation since 2006.

What has been your most important achievement professionally?

Working with our team at Concentric Corporation to develop this company into what it is today. I am very proud to have been a part of the growth of this company over the last 13 years that I have been working at Concentric. I feel very fortunate to have developed so many wonderful relationships with my colleagues and our clients.

Tell us a little about your family.

I have been married for 18 years, and we have one son that is 16 years old.

Who inspires you?

My family inspires me. They are at the center of everything I do in both my professional and personal life. They inspire me to work hard, be a good person, treat others with respect, and to always try to be a positive role model to our son.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?

I don’t know how to swim. Throw me in deep water…I’ll sink like a rock.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?

Travel with my wife and son. We are very fortunate to have been able to visit a lot of amazing places and create a lifetime of memories together during our travels.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Don’t be afraid to move the opposite direction as the crowd. Strike your own path. Great people don’t follow…they lead.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be?

Genuine.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life?

I have a vast knowledge of answers to random, obscure, pointless trivia questions.

What is your favorite movie?

Fandango. This movie was released in 1985 (set in 1971 Texas). Great movie about a group of friends facing uncertain futures at home and in Vietnam.

What is your favorite local restaurant?

V. Mertz.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – He’s not famous, but I would like to have dinner with my grandfather James “Ziva.” He died just after I was born, so I never knew him. Everyone that did know him says that he was an amazing man.
