With extensive experience in preventive maintenance, Dan Johnson knew how much more cost effective it is to complete maintenance before it progresses into major repairs and looked for a business venture where he could offer great service to homeowners in maintaining their homes.  Mr. Handyman is a premium service that provides professional maintenance and repairs to our residential and commercial customers.  Dan employs very skilled, experienced servicemen who have been background checked and subjected to drug screening.  They also guarantee their workmanship.  This business, their weekly radio program and their blog site offer tips and tricks to homeowners to keep their repair costs down by completing the required maintenance.

Tell us a little about your family.
I have a lovely wife of 28 years, Jody and two beautiful daughters, Sydney (20), and Jordyn (15).  I joke that they are the reason dad’s hair is graying.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?
Enlisting in the US Navy.  As a young 18 year old, not desiring to get right back into school and not really applying myself in high school, the Navy was a way out and a springboard to a great experience and education.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
I enjoy bike riding, woodworking and spending time tinkering in the garage on some type of mechanical device, a car, bike or tool.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?
I am somewhat introverted.  I can yak it up on our radio program but I clam up in crowds.

What are you the most proud of?
My two wonderful daughters.  I may not always acknowledge how proud they make me but they really are my pride and joy.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
To never look back with regrets.

What is the one goal you would most like to accomplish?
To have my business running on all cylinders so I can relax and look into the next business venture I would like to tackle.

If you could have a super power, what would it be?
To see into the future.  Think Powerball, Megamillions, and the ability to look smarter than most everybody else.

What are your plans after retirement?
To travel the world and to see places off-the-beaten path.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life?
I am a good woodworker.

Which talent would you most like to have?
I’d like to be a better cook, well at least be able to cook up a great meal Jody and the girls would appreciate.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read?
I’m a big Tom Clancy fan.  Red Storm Rising.

What is your favorite movie?
Facing the Giants, a Christian movie.  There is so much to learn and take in from a faith perspective.

What is your favorite TV show?
Law and Order, SVU.

What is your favorite local restaurant?
Two South Omaha favorites, Piccolo Pete’s for the prime rib and the American GI Forum for Taco Thursdays, the best tacos in Omaha!

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be?
Jesus.  I’d ask him how he can be so patient with us here on earth.
