Tell us a little about your business. – ExcelEDGE (ExcelEDGE.ActionCoach.com) is a coaching firm based in Sioux City with branches in Sioux City, Bettendorf, IA and Omaha. We are powered by ActionCOACH, the #1 business coaching product in the world and currently have 5 coaches. We truly believe that business should give you life, not consume it. We focus on coaching the people behind the business and making systems work for everyone.
How did you get started in the business? – I’ve been an entrepreneur from a very young age, but started in the coaching industry in 2005. I coached individuals in their health and wellness goals, coached trainers and group exercise instructors, all while wearing the HR, Marketing, Sales, IT, Maintenance, hats and writing programs, policies, and procedures. In 2024, I joined the ExcelEDGE firm and help other business owners who are also wearing all the hats.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – I always feel the biggest challenge is engaging others in your excitement, whether that is a mission, a program, a product, etc. As a coach, I do that every day.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – In 2016, I had an opportunity to help the Jewish Community Center restructure and redesign their fitness center. Another achievement was the first annual Omaha ActionNATION Conference. It was so rewarding to see the faces in the crowd.
Tell us a little about your family. – My husband and I grew up in IA, and are forever Hawkeye fans, but we’ve been in Omaha for 25 years. We have 4 kids, our oldest is in college, and the youngest is in 1st grade, and then we have 2 dogs.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – When my kids came along, I wanted life to be different. I wanted to pour into my community and support my family financially, but I also wanted to spend as much time as I could being a mom.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I have coaching certifications in health & wellness, nutrition, life, and business. I am a certified personal trainer, group exercise instructor, Vinyasa yoga instructor, and a biomechanics certification.
Who inspires you? – My parents. They managed to have a kid in high school, stay married for going on 47 years, raise 3 kids, and my dad is a business owner.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Genuine. In this day and age, it’s often hard to see the real person through the social media show. I try to show up as me all the time. The good, the bad, and the ugly.
What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with? – I am currently the VP of the board for the Millard Business Association and I’m on the advisory committee for Heartland Hope Mission.
