Tell me a little about your business? – Platteview is the only private golf club in the south metro area and has over 270 members.  We take a great deal of pride in our product and have a great membership.   It is truly a unique place that allows you to leave the city life for a day and relax.

How did you get started in the business? – When I was in high school, my dad asked me to go with him one day to a golf course with his buddies.  When we got there, he asked me to go up to the pro shop and get a cart key and tell the pro to give us a cooler of beer.  I couldn’t believe it.  I phoned my friends that afternoon and said we have to take this game up. I fell in love with the game and the business side of it.  People come to the golf course to enjoy themselves and have fun. Why would you not want to be the person to provide that experience?

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Prior to moving back to Omaha, I lived in Denver, CO for 13 years and was responsible for opening clubs from the ground up. This included not only the “grow in” of the golf course but also the infrastructure and design of large scale clubhouses.  I would then stay at the club for five years to insure it was operating efficiently before moving to another project.  I utilize that experience when trying to make a difference wherever I land!

Tell me about your family? – I have been married to my wife, Lori, for 19 years and we have two daughters–Carly (16) and Autumn (13). They are active in soccer and golf and I really enjoy my time with them.  I also have two male dogs just so I’m not outnumbered in the house.

What is your favorite thing to do on your day off? – You’re going to think that I am kidding when I say this but I really enjoy doing yard work and landscaping around my house. It’s relaxing to me and helps take my mind off of work.

What are you the most proud of? – The way my wife and I have raised our two daughters.  The world is not easy and I think we have instilled in them the importance of good values.

Which talent would you most like to have? – I would love to be able to sing and play the guitar or piano.  I’ve always admired people with those talents and having two daughters, “American Idol” and “The Voice” get watched often.

What is the last good book you read? – I just finished a book titled The Championship Formula by Dr. Jack Stark, who worked with a lot of sport dynasties in building their championship teams.  It was really good and is something that everyone can apply to their own businesses.

What is your favorite movie? – Shawshank Redemption. I’m a big fan of Morgan Freeman.
