Tell us a little about your business. – Avenue Scholars (avescholars.org) is a workforce development program created for young professionals to develop an understanding of what career they wish to pursue through hands-on career exploration opportunities and dedicated Career Coaching. My role centers on building meaningful connections between our Scholars and local employers who are passionate about investing in the next generation of talent through mentorship, career development, and hands-on opportunities. I work to create partnerships that open doors for our Scholars, help them build the skills and confidence needed to succeed, and connect them with professionals who are committed to shaping their future.

How did you get started in the business? – I have been in the workforce development industry for two years. Before joining Avenue Scholars, I worked for a local automotive dealership, starting as an inbound call representative while completing my bachelor’s degree. After graduating, I transitioned into a recruiting role, where I discovered my passion for helping individuals recognize strengths, explore potential and identify career paths that align with their talents and interests. That experience ultimately led me to Avenue Scholars, where I have been able to continue pursuing that passion by connecting young professionals with meaningful career opportunities and employers who are invested in their success.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – I believe some of my most meaningful professional achievements have come from leading the internship program at Avenue Scholars. I have had the privilege of watching Scholars begin their journey as high school interns the summer before their senior year and grow into young professionals who secure full-time employment through those same opportunities. Seeing them transition from exploring career paths to launching their careers has been incredibly rewarding.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I was actually born in England and lived there for the first three years of my life. Last year I had the opportunity to travel back to the U.K. for the first time since living there and spent about a month exploring!

Who inspires you? – I would say my friends and family inspire me the most. They always remind me to never settle for less and that with a little motivation and determination I can achieve anything. Always look to those in your corner for support!

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – “Confidence is 10% hard work and 90% delusion.” — Tina Fey.

If you had a theme song, what would it be? – “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – I would have loved to become a veterinarian. Unfortunately, my science skills are lacking.

What is your favorite movie? – I would have to say the Twilight series or Practical Magic!

What is your favorite TV show? – Bridgerton or Sweet Tooth.

What is your favorite local Omaha restaurant? – Mercy Thai, hands down! The BEST crab rangoon!

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – My answer may be a little unconventional, as my choice isn’t someone famous. I would give anything to have dinner with my grandmother one more time. She had an incredible influence on my life and was one of my greatest role models. She embodied kindness in everything she did and had a way of making the people around her feel loved and valued. I would cherish the opportunity to sit with her again and craft the night away.
