Shon Olson was assisting John Wanninger with his companies, which include Busy Living, Handyman Joes and Pest Solutions 365 when he saw that Pest Solutions was in need of a leader/manager.  Shon has always tried to insert himself into all aspects of the business he works at, so he found a few hours he could devote to helping out in this area.  Soon after, John made him the GM of the company in addition to having him continue to help with his other companies.

Tell us a little about your family. – I have been married to the same girl for 21 years this August.  My wonderful supporting wife Jane and  I have two wonderful girls.  Samantha is 18 and graduating this year and pursing a career as a Veterinarian.  AnJynette is 13 and active in volleyball, softball and track in school.  We live in a little piece of heaven just outside Eagle NE.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? –   Kids. It was and is amazing the responsibility that goes along with having a family.  It is not just me and what I want.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Spend time on my acreage keeping it up, playing ball with the dogs.  When time allows, the family goes camping to a local RV park.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – Well because of the haircut I still have even 20+ years out of the Marines, people are typically very intimidated by it and my size.  It may surprise them to know I am a pretty non confrontational guy.

What are you the most proud of? – Family is very big to me. Also, I was in the Marine Corps from 87-91 finishing my tour in Desert Storm.  I am very proud of my time in the service.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – It is not so much advice as a motivating comment from my father in law.  After my tour in the Marine Corps, I tried many different jobs and some on my own.  His comment that has stuck with me is, “I have more respect for a guy who has tried and failed than one who has never tried at all.”  That has kept me going for a lot of years when job change was necessary.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? – Probably something to do with never having an empty pocket.  Just reach in and the money would be there.

Which talent would you most like to have? – Guitar or drums have always fascinated me.

What is your favorite movie? – Top Gun and Days of Thunder.

What is your favorite TV show? – Justified

What is your favorite local restaurant? – Round The Bend Steakhouse in Ashland

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – Probably John Travolta or Nick Cage, my two favorite actors.  I of course couldn’t rule out Stormin’ Norman who took us into battle at Desert Storm in 91, he is an impressive guy.
