Sean Johnson has been appointed executive director of Washington County’s Gateway Development Corporation (GDC), a regional partner of the Greater Omaha Economic Development Partnership. He will be responsible for the promotion of economic development activities in Washington County effective September 30.

Prior to this appointment, Johnson served as the economic development project manager with the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce in Lawrence, Kan. He assisted in the development of a formalized business retention program, worked closely with the corporation’s board of directors and investors, and collaborated with the local Small Business Development Center.

In his new position, Johnson will focus on retaining existing businesses, attracting new businesses, creating new jobs and expanding current business and industry in Washington County. Johnson, who was born and raised in Council Bluffs, holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

The Greater Omaha Economic Development Partnership, a program of the Greater Omaha Chamber, offers a full range of economic development services with the goal of increasing jobs and investments in the Greater Omaha area.
