There were lots of hugs, high fives and tissues passed out as Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands announced the Big of the Year recipients at the Big Appreciation Brunch on Saturday, June 16. Over 200 Bigs, Littles, parents, and agency supporters filled the room at the Milo Bail Student Center on the campus of the University of Nebraska at Omaha to honor each of these individuals. Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands is proud to announce the Bigs of the Year for 2012 – Big Brother of the Year Abe Zabih, Big Sister of the Year Michelle Koraleski, Big Couple of the Year Jack White and Mary Hamilton, and Parent of the Year Renee Day.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands also provided special recognition to two companies for their dedicated support of the agency and its mission. The 2012 Corporate Partner of the Year was David Day Associates for their branding and design work on the agency’s Impact Circle giving society over the past five years. Union Pacific was also recognized as the Top Bowl for Kids’ Sake Fundraising Organization.
Over the past 6 years, Union Pacific has held this annual honor and have raised over $250,000 through individual employee fundraising efforts.
