The awards were presented last week at the NE Chambers Association annual conference in Bellevue. The awards celebrate outstanding chamber leadership and innovative community programming that strengthen local businesses, foster collaboration and contribute to Nebraska’s economic vitality.
Jodi Lewellen Named Professional of the Year. She recognized for her dedication to chamber members, community engagement and leadership in the chamber profession. She has served the Scottsbluff/Gering United Chamber of Commerce for nearly 12 years, beginning as office manager and advancing through the organization before becoming executive director more than two and a half years ago.
Lewellen also serves as president of the Nebraska Chambers Association, where she advocates for chamber professionals, encourages statewide collaboration and helps strengthen the network of chambers serving Nebraska businesses.
The 42nd Annual Ogallala Indian Summer Rendezvous earned NCA’s Event of the Year Award for its community engagement, economic contributions and innovative cultural programming.
Organized by the Keith County Chamber of Commerce and its Rendezvous Committee, the Sept. 17-19 celebration brought thousands of visits to downtown Ogallala for live entertainment, a parade, car show, arts market, food vendors, family activities and historical experiences.
The 2026 event attracted approximately 2,900 visitors and generated 3,700 total visits. The celebration featured 20 Harvest Arts Market vendor booths, eight food trucks and a car show with 113 vehicles registered.
A highlight was an expanded cultural education program developed with the Western Trails Creative District. The Rising Buffalo Dance Group presented educational performances for students from eight area schools and learning centers, followed by a public performance.
The event’s success reflects extensive collaboration among the Keith County Chamber, volunteers, businesses, civic organizations, city departments and community partners. Now in its 42nd year, the Rendezvous continues to draw visitors, support downtown businesses and celebrate local heritage. More information available at nechamber.com.
