Nebraska Cancer Specialists Expands Integrated Care With Hire of Lori Wingerter

Nebraska Cancer Specialists (NCS) (nebraskacancer.com) has hired Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner Lori Wingerter to join its patient care team. The addition of mental health services builds on the NCS model of fully-integrated care for cancer patients.

Wingerter, who earned her master’s degree from the University of Nebraska, has been a practicing psychotherapist whose work has increasingly specialized in providing emotional support to cancer patients, their families and caregivers. She is a member of the Society for Integrative Oncology, the Association of Psycho-Oncology Society, the American Counseling Association, and locally sits on the board of directors of A Time To Heal, a cancer rehabilitation organization. She also works on behalf of the Great Plains Colon Cancer Task Force.

NCS is among the first specialized cancer practices in the Midwest to provide mental health services as part of their overall, holistic approach to patient care. These services join patient resources such as occupational therapy and industry-leading access to clinical trials in creating a comprehensive resource for cancer patients.

Nebraska Cancer Specialists is a subspecialty practice of 13 collaborating physicians who are devoted to oncology and hematology, providing state of the art medical treatment and compassionate care in both outpatient offices and hospital settings.
